CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
The science of psychology looks into all factors that affect mental health and adaptive behaviour and that can generate distress and suffering to the patient. Clinical psychologists assess, diagnose, treat and prevent those problems that affect the mental health of people.
In practice, psychologists and psychiatrists work together with other professionals, to provide a multidisciplinary approach to complex problems affecting patients. But they differ in basic training, since clinical psychologists focus on mental processes and human behaviour while psychiatrists focus on human physiology.
